We are a non-profit because we believe that literature is a public good. Stories expand our capacity for empathy. Translations connect cultures. Language allows us to encounter lives beyond our own. Through the exchange of ideas, we come to understand one another more deeply and imagine more just, equitable, and compassionate futures.

Our work is grounded in the conviction that storytelling is essential civic infrastructure. It preserves collective memory, challenges assumptions, and creates the conditions for genuine dialogue across borders, languages, and lived experiences. By investing in literature, our supporters invest in a world where understanding overcomes division and where art serves as a foundation for a more connected and humane society.

At Deep Vellum, fundraising is an extension of our mission.
